Information for artists wishing to exhibit in 2018

Artists, arts organisations and community cultural groups are invited to submit an 'expression of interest' to present exhibitions at the Shoalhaven City Arts Centre throughout 2018. Exhibitions may consist of paintings, works on paper, sculpture, installation and 3D works, photography, pottery & ceramics, fabric and textile art, fashion, costume and wearable art, video/multimedia film, cultural heritage and community projects. Individual artists, groups and collaborations are all welcome to apply.

The vision of the Arts Centre is to provide a facility that serves as a vibrant and creative centre for Arts focused activity, development, access and education for the use and enjoyment of the whole Shoalhaven community.

The main aims of the Arts Centre are:

  • To encourage, promote and showcase all levels of artistic and cultural strength, diversity and activity by the arts community of the Shoalhaven.
  • To include a balance of exhibitions and activities that present artistic expression within the Australian art scene and beyond.
  • Through efficient management & marketing, quality educational programs and quality facilities to make the centre sustainable, accessible and enjoyable to residents and visitors alike.

The Main Gallery is used for invited or curated exhibitions, such as Council's Samuel Elyard and City Art Collection, travelling national and regional exhibitions and selected community shows such as The Shoalhaven Art Society Annual Prize and the Creative Moments Craft Guild Exhibition.

There are four (4) spaces within the Shoalhaven City Arts Centre available for hire by individual artists and community groups for the purpose of exhibition - being the East, Access, Foyer and Side Galleries. The Side Gallery is dedicated to digital media and video screenings. In addition, the Nowra School of Arts is available for special exhibitions, such as NAIDOC Week Black Cockatoo Art Prize. The external Courtyard Gallery is available for community art projects by invitation only.

Conditions apply and hirers are asked to read these carefully and then fill in and return the attached application form with appropriate supplementary material.
