War: What Is It Good For? Bundanon Trust

MAIN GALLERY

Arthur Boyd along with many of his contemporaries was a passionate and socially engaged artist, frequently commenting directly or obliquely on events of his time.
Including works by Arthur, David and Yvonne Boyd, Sidney Nolan, John Brack and others, this exhibition, drawn from the Trust’s Collection, demonstrates the power of art to communicate ideas about war, social order, poverty and the environment.

distill_1. Sarah Low and Mary Preece

ACCESS GALLERY

This exhibition has developed from the two artists seeking new direction through experimental material practice, creating multi-layered visual responses through found objects. The experimentation of mark-making on found objects such as sewing patterns and pianola rolls, is a strong connection for both artists and will be the strong underlying theme for the works.

The Two Hemispheres. Lee Camberg

GREEN GALLERY

These paintings are a narrative exploration of human nature – the frailty, suspect motivation, conscience, humour and the sheer folly. The use of allegory, derision, humour and compassion carry the message. The commonality of faith despite our differences is an underlying theme.

Lost Frescoes. Sue Irvin

FOYER GALLERY

The ‘Lost Frescoes’ are abstract responses to landscape, antiquity, lost surfaces and ancient imagery, reminiscent of the Abstract Expressionists. The works evolved from six weeks in Italy exploring ancient art, and in particular, the leached, eroded surfaces of frescoes at Ostia Attica and Pompeii. What had been the vibrant interior wall decoration of antiquity became faded, crackled and pot marked – fabulous.

Our Place and Their Place. Eve Hall and Jan Martin

ACCESS GALLERY

Eve and Jan’s photographs celebrate life in the Shoalhaven and further afield. Their subjects are people and all the ‘scapes’ – urban and country, land and sea. There is an invitation to compare and contrast, engaging the viewer to consider and re-value ‘our place’ while being stimulated by and curious about other people and ‘their place’.
